I had six months on one exchange in New Zealand two years ago, so having had only 2 exchanges in Belgium in 2017 I felt that, as I will be 86 in 2018, I should make the most of home exchange before age catches up with me. So I now have 7 exchanges from May to September from OZ to Arizona, California, Oregon, and Canada.
My family are waiting to retire when they can follow my footsteps, I tell them they do not have wait till they retire!

Over more than 20 years, we have enjoyed 40 HomeLink holidays all over the world, to the extent that it was a significant part of our lives. As well as enjoying the comfort of other homes (way superior to commercial properties) in beautiful surroundings, it has been good to be part of local communities, sharing insights about different cultures. And of course cost savings have been immense (aggregating tens of thousands of pounds over the years) since holiday costs are almost limited to travel costs and are unaffected by the length of the holiday. So thank you for all you do and have done for your members.

I have just come back from a fantastic exchange in Iceland. Everybody I met in Iceland was complaining about the costs, but I said - we have free accommodation and free transport! I am always surprised that people are reluctant to let strangers into their homes. I hope I am not tempting fate, but I have never had any problems at all. In fact I like the thought that there are people using my home, so it doesn't look empty.

We continue to have fantastic home exchanges through homelink. We stayed in Bordeaux this year with two people we had hosted the previous year and then we exchanged with a couple in Arcachon. Our daughter got married and the first couple helped us with wedding preparations and we would now count them among our many homelink friends.
